So today we’re pleased to announce the grand opening of our UK audio downloads store – TADA!

£12.95 is the UK price, as compared to $18.95.

Currency rates fluctuate dramatically, so feel free to do a quick conversion and pick the best one for you. You should get exactly the same audio downloads regardless. Now excuse me while I cut this virtual ribbon…

Now a lot of these thoughts and programs may be quite necessary and helpful, but there may be times when a quieter mind can give you a richer experience of life, a more direct connection with your world.

Strange times call for a clarification. Getting Quiet is not concerened with belief systems, gurus or religion. While I hold my own personal views the Getting Quiet audio course is merely a tool to help quiet the mind.

As stated on the course, I believe that the mind is a tremendous asset, capable of genius. I do believe though, that there are times when quieting the mind will give a more direct, and so richer, experience of the world. There may be times when you want to experience the world more directly, there may be times when you do not.

So, to clarify: Getting Quiet aims to help you quiet the mind, when and should you so choose, to gain a more direct experience of the world. It’s up to you when, if and how to use it. Peace, love and a happy 2010.

A quieting of the mind, leading to a new connection, or re-connection with the world.

By necessity, Getting Quiet will only be of use if it is independent of all religions and belief structures, but in conflict with none. A new experience of the world; richer, brighter, more beautiful. By removing the smog of thought, learned reactions and preconceptions we may experience the world anew.

Here’s a story I heard from a friend. One of his co-workers was babysitting her grandchild. She dozed off for a few minutes while looking after the baby and when she woke up the child was nowhere to be seen. She was understandably worried. Luckily she found the child in the house by the front door.

Her son (or daughter, I’m not sure) came by to collect the baby and everyone was safe and well.

However, at this point the grandmother began to think ‘what if?’.
She looked at her front door, it was unlocked.
She looked at her garden gate. It was open, and led onto a busy road.
She realized that the child could have crawled out of the house onto the road. She began to panic.

The child was safe, none of the above had happened, but the lady kept asking herself ‘what if?’.
She began hyperventilating, and passed out. She awoke and managed to see her doctor. She is fine and well.

The point, of course, is that the thoughts of ‘what if’ became too much for the grandmother. And yet these thoughts are not even as real as an image projected onto smoke.

Imagine the everyday harm we do ourselves through worry and anxiety over similar but smaller thoughts. Thoughts which are not even as substantial as light on smoke.

We need to take control of our thoughts. We need to get quiet.

In the third state of consciousness, the waking state, our mind is constantly filled with verbal thoughts. These take the form of internal dialogues, worries, memories, preconceptions, daydreams, etc.

In my experience, when we stop our verbal thoughts our world becomes more vibrant. Colors are brighter, music becomes more involving. We get a better experience of life itself, as if a veil has been removed. We are free from thought pollution, which clouds our whole life experience.

Now if dreaming sleep is just dreamless sleep with thoughts, can we call a waking state with a quiet mind a new state of consciousness?
