Getting Quiet in Welsh…

by colin on February 15, 2010

As planned, Getting Quiet is being recorded in Welsh as we speak, under the title Gwynfyd.

Gwynfyd – bliss, comes from the two Welsh words gwyn – white and byd – world.

You’ll notice the ‘Yn Gymraeg’ tag on the menu bar if you’d like to find out more. Diolch yn fawr.

Getting Quiet UK audio store now open

by colin February 10, 2010

Currencies are strange. People want to buy things in their own currency. We initially had Getting Quiet on sale in US dollars, but felt a little odd about this, since we’re in Wales. So today we’re pleased to announce the grand opening of our UK audio downloads store – TADA!
£12.95 is the UK price, as [...]

Why Quiet the mind? Why Meditate?

by colin January 12, 2010

Here’s my take on it. Over the years preconceptions, habits, fears and all sorts of other thoughts build up a kind of ‘thought pollution’ which gets in the way of your experience of the world.
Now a lot of these thoughts and programs may be quite necessary and helpful, but there may be times when a [...]

Neither a religion or a belief system, but a tool to quiet the mind.

by colin January 11, 2010

Strange times call for a clarification. Getting Quiet is not concerened with belief systems, gurus or religion. While I hold my own personal views the Getting Quiet audio course is merely a tool to help quiet the mind.
As stated on the course, I believe that the mind is a tremendous asset, capable of genius. I [...]

In the studio recording getting quiet

by colin December 2, 2009

The initial Getting Quiet release is now taking shape. A single audio CD, also available as an audio download, will cover all the material needed.
After a very productive session at the Infinity Cafe studios, I’ve realized that keeping everything as simple and accessible as possible is the very best route.
Release date: December 09.

getting quiet – meditation without belief structures

by colin October 28, 2009

You can call it meditation if you like (but you don’t have to).
A quieting of the mind, leading to a new connection, or re-connection with the world.
By necessity, Getting Quiet will only be of use if it is independent of all religions and belief structures, but in conflict with none. A new experience of the world; richer, brighter, [...]

the woman made unconscious by a thought

by colin September 23, 2009

Here’s a story I heard from a friend. One of his co-workers was babysitting her grandchild. She dozed off for a few minutes while looking after the baby and when she woke up the child was nowhere to be seen. She was understandably worried. Luckily she found the child in the house by the front [...]

fourth state of consciousness

by colin August 5, 2009

In the third state of consciousness, the waking state, our mind is constantly filled with verbal thoughts. These take the form of internal dialogues, worries, memories, preconceptions, daydreams, etc.
In my experience, when we stop our verbal thoughts our world becomes more vibrant. Colors are brighter, music becomes more involving. We get a better experience of [...]

third state of consciousness

by colin August 4, 2009

The waking state. You’re probably in it now. Fully awake, the world has a continuity and solidity. You don’t wake one morning to find yourself in a strange room unless you went to sleep there. You don’t get turned into a beetle overnight. If your front door was blue yesterday it’ll still be blue today. [...]

second state of consciousness

by colin August 1, 2009

Sleep with dreams. A state which most people enter every night.
A number of interesting observations:
1 – No matter how disjointed, nonsensical or downright odd a dream is it always seems to make perfect sense at the time. The mind will construct a ‘reality’ from the strangest sequence of events to maintain this illusion.
2 – [...]

first state of consciousness

by colin July 31, 2009

The first state of consciousness is dreamless sleep.
It’s a state that we enter every night, and yet we know very little about. We seem to stop all verbal thoughts, and enter a state of utter blankness.
I remember having a glimpse of this state when ‘going under’ via general anaesthetic. We can only speculate as [...]

how many states of consciousness are there?

by colin July 6, 2009

We can be sure of three:
1 – Dreamless sleep.
2 – Dreaming sleep.
3 – Our waking state.
Many people claim that there is a fourth state, when our mind becomes silent. This is what I’m looking into with Getting Quiet. Watch this space for more news as it happens.
